Founded in 1954, Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine (NJUCM) is one of the oldest institutions in China, earning the distinction as the birthplace of TCM higher education. Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine (NJUCM) is one of the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborative Centers on Traditional Medicine; the university is authorized by the Chinese Ministry of Public Health to be an International Acupuncture Training Center. Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine (NJUCM) is also a training base for TCM teachers, a center for clinical pharmacology, a training center for overseas education approved by the State Administration of TCM, and one of the first authorized TCM universities to enroll and train overseas students.

(1) History

The Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine was founded in 1954. It goes from Jiangsu Province Traditional Chinese medicine training school, Jiangsu Province Chinese medicine school, Nanjing University of traditional Chinese medicine, Jiangsu new medical college, Nanjing University of traditional Chinese medicine (recovery system), and another historical period, is one of the hina was founded the earliest higher Chinese Medicine colleges and universities, In 1995, it renamed Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine. (2) Discipline Construction

NJUCM is famous for its teaching achievements. At present, on its campus, there are 13 teaching units to give students comprehensive academic subjects. It provides four levels of education: the three-year professional program, Bachelor program, Master program, and Doctor program. Three post-doctoral working stations are covering TCM, Chinese Materia Medica, and Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, 21 majors for Doctor's degrees, and 23 majors for Master's degrees in this university. For the time being, students on campus number more than 18,000, among which over 1500 are postgraduate students, and about 1200 are international students or students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan at different learning levels.

(3) Campus Overview

The Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine includes 2 campusesthe Hanzhong campus and the Xianlin campus. The first campus is located in the western part of the city, adjacent to the historic Black Dragon Lake. The second campus is situated along Xianlin Rd. It is an extensive campus, with digital and eco-friendly designed gardens. Authorized by the Ministry of Science and Technology as well as the Ministry of Education respectively, Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine serves as a GCP Research Center for New Drugs Development and Engineering Center for Standardization of Chinese Medicine Processing. The library, as a branch of the Chinese Medicine Literature Retrieval Center, has a collection of 900,000 books, 970,000 electronic books, 1,156 journals, and over 20,000 electronic journals.

(4) Affiliated Hospitals

It boasts 9 directly affiliated schools, 30 affiliated hospitals, and over 100 training and internship bases. It includes Jiangsu Province Hospital of TCM, The second affiliated hospital of the Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, the Nanjing Hospital of TCM, The Third Affiliated Hospital of the Nanjing University of TCM, the Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, and some other hospitals.

Scholarship Programs

1. Chinese Government Scholarship Programs

Type A: Bilateral Program (apply through the Chinese Embassy in the applicants home country)

Introduction

This includes full or partial scholarships through educational exchange agreements or consensus between the Chinese government and governments of other countries, institutions, universities, or international organizations. It supports undergraduate students, graduate students, general scholars, and senior scholars.

Applicants shall apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study of their home countries.

Application Procedure

Step 1  Apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study of your home country for a CGS opportunity

Step 2  Apply to your target university for the Pre-admission Letter once recommended by the dispatching authorities as an eligible candidate (you will receive an Award Letter for CGS Candidate);

Step 3  Complete the online application procedure (Visit http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina or http://www.campuschina.org and click Application Onlineto log in), submit online the completed Application Form for the Chinese Government Scholarship, and print a hard copy. You should consult the dispatching authorities for overseas study of your home country for Instructions on CGS Information Management System for International Students and Agency Number;

Step 4  Submit all of your application documents to the dispatching authorities of your home country before the deadline.

Type B: Chinese University Program (apply through our university)

Introduction

This is a full scholarship for designated Chinese universities and certain provincial education offices in specific provinces or autonomous regions to recruit outstanding international students for graduate studies in China. It only supports postgraduate students and doctoral students.

2. International Chinese Language Teachers (Confucius Institute) Scholarship

Introduction

For the purpose of cultivating qualified International Chinese language teachers and facilitating Chinese language education in other countries, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) will continue with the International Chinese Language Teachers (Confucius Institute) Scholarship. Confucius Institutes independently operated Confucius Classrooms, certain HSK test centers, Chinese language (education) departments of foreign universities, professional associations for Chinese language instruction of other countries, Chinese embassies (consulates) abroad (collectively recommending institutions) may recommend outstanding students and currently-employed Chinese language teachers to study International Chinese Language Education or related majors in Chinese universities and colleges (host institutions).

Eligibility

All applicants shall be:

non-Chinese citizens;

in good physical and mental conditions, and with good academic performance and conduct;

committed to Chinese language education and related work;

between the ages of 16 and 35. Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall not be over 45, while undergraduate student applicants shall not be over 25.

3. Jiangsu Provincial Government Scholarship

To further promote the development of international studentseducation in Jiangsu Province, enhance the international attractiveness of Jiangsu higher education, create a Study in Jiangsubrand, and make Jiangsu a main destination province for international students in China, Jiangsu Provincial government has set up the Jasmine Jiangsu Government Scholarship.

Criteria of Application:

1. Already enrolled by the Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine as self-paid, but not granted Chinese Government or other entity scholarship students.

2. Foreign nationality citizens.

3. Education background and age limit:

 Applicants for both college and undergraduate programs must have a senior high school diploma and be basically under the age of 30.

 Applicants for a masters degree program must have a bachelors degree and be basically under the age of 35.

 Applicants for the doctoral degree programs must have a masters degree and be basically under the age of 40.

4. Applicants must obey the relevant laws of the PRC and meet the admission requirements of the host institutions. Applicants must have a correct attitude towards study and fine marks.

4. Nanjing Municipal Government Scholarship

Introduction

The scholarship was set up by the Nanjing government in 2013 to attract and encourage more outstanding overseas students to study and conduct scientific research at Nanjing Universities. This scholarship does not cover tuition, living costs, or accommodation; it only provides a monthly stipend. Master and Ph.D. candidates will be granted 20,000 RMB/year, Undergraduates 10,000 RBM/year, one-year students 5,000 RMB/year, and one-semester students 2500 RMB/semester.
