How to Apply to University of Science and Technology of China
University of Science and Technology of China is one of the first universities in the country to implement the “985 Project” and “211 Project” and is the only university participating in the National Knowledge Innovation Project. The University of Science and Technology of China has taken the lead in opening up to the outside world and has signed cooperation and exchange agreements with nearly 100 universities and scientific research institutions in more than 30 countries and regions to establish stable cooperative relations. On average, nearly 300 foreign experts and scholars come to the university to give lectures or conduct cooperative research. Nearly 10,000 teachers have been sent to visit and study or conduct cooperative research in more than 30 countries and regions.
(1) History
University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) was established in Beijing in 1958 and moved to Hefei, the capital city of Anhui province in the early 1970s. USTC is under the jurisdiction of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). It is one of the C9 League, an association of nine top Chinese universities. As a key university of the nation, it is noted for its advanced science and high technology programs, unique management studies, and well-tailored disciplines in the humanities.

(3) Discipline and Programs
USTC has 30 departments, 8 national key programs of first-level disciplines, 4 national key programs of second-level disciplines, 2 programs with major national support, and 20 programs with major provincial and ministerial support. In addition, USTC has 2 institutes in Shanghai and Suzhou. In its national key programs of first-level disciplines including mathematics, physics, chemistry, geophysics, and biology, history of science and technology, mechanics. Recently, the University has opened a Master of Software project management program and a Doctoral in public administration program, both taught in English in addition to the several existing English medium taught disciplines.
Master
1. Master of Computer Technology(Suzhou Campus)
This master's program is designed to teach students both the basic and key areas of computer science while becoming senior programmers, system designers, or researchers in specific fields within computer science. Also, the program will provide counseling programs and financial assistance to help graduates with the potential and interest to start a business and encourage outstanding graduates to pursue doctoral degrees.
The domestic ranking of computer science in our school has been stable, maintaining its rank in the top 3-5. In recent years, the world ranking of computer science at USTC has been stable within the top 100.
2. Master of Software Engineering(Suzhou Campus)
Software Engineering is an evolving discipline that aims to build and maintain effective and practical high-quality software using engineering methods. Since information technology leads to rapid development in the Internet, cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence, there is an increasing demand for talent in this field. Furthermore, the School of Software Engineering at USTC has been ranked top ten domestically in a recent national review and has gained increasingly immense popularity from applicants in China.
3. International Master of Public Administration(IMPA)(Suzhou Campus)
The program is adhering to the philosophies of “spreading political culture, broadening international vision, leading academic trends, cultivating innovation and dedication leaders”, and the School of Public Affairs has closely integrated the discipline of public administration with China's major strategic needs. The main directions of this discipline are including risk management and disaster management, cyberspace security and governance, science & technology innovation and policy, modern governance systems, environmental policy and management, e-health and medical management, and so on.
4. Master of Business Administration (MBA)(Suzhou Campus)
USTC's MBA program is a high-level program for experienced executives who wish to increase their managerial and strategic skills in an international environment. It allows participants to develop a global and innovative strategic vision in today's complex, unpredictable, and interconnected world. (5) International Prominence
In 2013, the signing ceremony of an agreement to reach a series of future collaborations among the C9 League, the Association of American Universities, the Australian Group of Eight (Go8), and the League of European Research Universities (LERU), took place in USTC.
Apart from it, international organizations such as the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) have all formed a sustainable and strategic partnership with USTC. Meanwhile, the university has attracted prestigious research universities around the world including Oxford, Stanford, and Princeton to develop collaborative relationships.
