Number of Graduate Institutes in China: 827

In 2017, about 58,600 Chinese Government Scholarship(CSC) Students from 180 countries studied in China, including about 40,800 postgraduate students, accounting for 69.57% of the total number of CSC scholarship students. In addition, there are many other kinds of scholarships for doctoral students. It can be seen that doctoral students with scholarship account for a large proportion.

# Eligibility:

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good physical and mental health and possess a valid foreign passport;

2. For those who were originally Chinese citizens and later became foreign nationals, and those who have acquired a foreign nationality at birth, one or both of the parents are Chinese citizens and have resided in a foreign country, are subject to the regulations as stated in Document No. 12 [2020] of the P.R.C Ministry of Education and applicants must submit relevant supporting documents;

3. Applicants must possess a Master’s degree or its equivalent.

# Common Application Documents:

1. The biographic page of your passport

2. Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Certificates.

3. Transcripts of all courses taken when pursuing a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.

4. Two recommendation letters by professors or assistant professors.

5. Research Proposal.

6. Language Proficiency Certificate such as HSK 5~6, IELTS/TOEFL, Chinese/English Proficiency Certificate (if you are non-native speaker).

7. Foreigner Physical Examination Form.

8. No criminal record certificate.

9. Statement of Financial Support through a Guarantor and its supporting documents.

10. Proof of employment (if applicable).

11. Abstract(s) of essay(s)/graduation thesis/a list of publications (if applicable).

12. Certificate of Awards

13. Supervisor Acceptance Letter.

14. Recent ID-photo with white background.
