I am a student and a child that grew up in an environment of cultural exchange. In school, I had classmates from all corners of the world and at home, I received distinct parenting styles - one from my mother who is Chinese and one of my father who is Brazilian. I have always demonstrated an interest for the studies of languages and dream of one day becoming a translator in Chinese, English, Portuguese and Spanish. Due to the fact that Portuguese and Spanish are cognate (Latin), it is much easier to learn one language based on the premise of knowing the other. Therefore, the real challenge is mastering the translation between Chinese and English. I believe that this course will offer me this great opportunity to tackle this challenge and succeed.
