I hereby wish to apply for the admission to pursue Doctoral studies and research in environmental sciences program at Nanjing University, China.
In fact, dear Sir/Madam, I have worked with different institutions and organisations in areas of environmental management, natural resources management, most of the time with application of geospatial and earth observation technologies. Examples include, University of Rwanda (under Research and Training Centre of GIS and Remote Sensing: CGIS-UR), Rusizi International University, The Live Architecture Ltd, etc. I also carried out a variety of consultancies in these areas.
Nevertheless, more challenges are hitting our planet and are disrupting the environmental balance, particularly. Examples include those related to climate change, those induced by population pressure over limited land resources, deforestation issues in order to meet human needs, waste water management issues due to, mostly, high and speedy urbanisation all over the world and agricultural activities, watershed management issues with challenge to conserve and protect the natural water without disregarding the extensive need of water for agricultural intensification, and so many others. These issues and many others still need high level of understanding and research in order to obtain sustainable solutions, to ensure that current generations obtain their needs form both environmental and natural resources, but also ensure that future’s generations will obtain theirs, as well. This is what motivates me to apply for the doctoral studies in environmental science, in order to be able to highly contribute and participate in this fight for sustainable management of environmental resources and ensure sustainable development of the world’s population. The aspiration to discover new aspects and new approaches which can be applied in order to reach this goal, is the key driver making me very eager, enthusiastic and passionate to continue with doctoral studies in environmental science program.
The main reason to apply to choose Nanjing University as an institution of preference, lies in its reputation and quality research as I came to know through my friends studying in China, and through consulting the university's website and monitor their research outputs via the institution's website, which came to convince me that through this institution my dream will be realised, and I will be a competent researcher and academician who will remarkably contribute to finding sustainable solutions of the above mentioned global issues in environmental science field.
