I am from a small country in West Africa called The Gambia. Ningbo University from what I have read, has grown through the years as an institution of excellence and sound morals instituted primarily to bring out not just the best in their students but also nurture it., There is no doubt this university offers a perfect platform to prepare anyone for global competitiveness, which leaves me no choice but to send in my humble request for a scholarship to enable me have a spot in the forthcoming academic session. Coming from a third world country, I do not have many opportunities. The National University here does not offer any engineering courses, so I am left with no option but to apply to Universities abroad. Unfortunately, I come from an extended family. My father is a businessman with a large family to cater for so he is unable to afford the tuition of most International Universities. The Engineering scholarship offered by Ningbo University would serve me a great deal in helping me achieve my dream of becoming an Engineer. There are numerous reasons why I chose to apply to Ningbo University . For one, I believe that traveling in itself is learning. English writer Samuel Johnson said: “All travel has its advantages. If the passenger visits better countries, he may learn to improve his own. And if fortune carries him to worse, he may learn to enjoy it”. I hold that to be true, and I look forward to seeing a world different to mine, so I may learn the things I never knew. Furthermore, Ningbo University has an impressive ranking among world universities. This, in addition to 31 years of operation with a successful record of graduating top class students has convinced me that this is the right institute for me. My country is still developing, and I believe that education, particularly Science and Technology is the only way forward. My family looks up to me, as I am the first son of my parents. Realizing my goals would help me contribute positively to the lives of my family, community and world at large. I cannot achieve any of these things if I am not given the opportunity to.
