PERSONAL STATEMENT

Dear Sir or Madam,

As I believe, the dream of becoming professor in communication studies can be accomplished only through a long-term cultivation and enrichment of strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, incisive mind and perfect in international communication as a field of discipline. To gain respective knowledge and skills, I decided to start my long walk by studying Mass Communication in Uganda, later on I shifted to study international relations in Dodoma Tanzania to explore the world and international politics, in actual sense I did not shift far away from communication studies simply because I was still communicating in international perspective. Now, my first journey toward my long term dream of acquiring PhD in Intercultural Communication is about to be achieved especially after hearing that the academic qualifications awarded by Chinese universities are recognized by most developed countries. From what I know the Chinese government has signed an agreement on mutual recognition of academic qualifications with a number of countries including the United States, Britain, France, Japan and 65 other countries and regions. This made me to feel proud to select communication university of China(CUC).; bearing in mind that being graduate in China the one of the most popular study abroad destinations for international students will make me becoming confident academically across the world. Briefly I acquired my secondary education in Tanzania (Zanzibar) in 1998-2002 and completed Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication in 2007 in Uganda with GPA of 4.06.In 2012; I was awarded Masters in International Relations with upper second Class of 3.7 GPA at University of Dodoma Tanzania the Capital City of Tanzania. I used to work at various government institutions including Ministry of information culture and sports through the Zanzibar broadcasting cooperation as a journalist and programmer preparing various social, cultural and economic programs. I used also to work as a part time instructor at the institute of Public Administration in Zanzibar, Tanzania and Currently I am working as a Tutor at the Zanzibar Journalism and Mass Media College in Tanzania (a government College). This government Media College offers variety of courses of Journalism and others of social sciences. Pursuing PhD in Communication studies especially intercultural communication will be a catalyst for my college in enhancing its performance and will be in line with the mission and vision of my college which is to achieve academic Excellency. On the other hand pursuing PhD studies will assist in strengthening College capacity through research activities where currently I am working through its research center in collaboration with the government of Tanzania (Zanzibar) which always encourages various researches through its colleges, universities and at the higher academic institutions for the country’s development, hence will assist my country in its campaign of poverty reduction. I think it is the time for me to go beyond the horizons and acquire knowledge of highest level. The well-qualified and experienced faculty, excellent educational facilities, exceptional research work and the inspiration given to students at your university would provide me an ideal platform for achieving my goals and my country‘s vision. The facilities and conducive atmosphere of China will help me to enhance my skills in a better way and will lead me towards a bright future. My outstanding achievements in this academic career are currently persuading me to take further steps and hence, I have decided to apply for the postgraduate program in communication studies (PhD in Intercultural Communication) at your esteemed university with greater confidence. With these academic and extracurricular activities, now I can take further steps for the realization of my wishes. My decision to choose your distinguished university (Communication University of China) as my future academy of Communication Studies (intercultural Communication) has occurred because I know that the educational system in China is precise and the academic level of research is among the leading position in the world. I am seeking an opportunity to fulfill my goal in an environment that encourages creativity and motivation and your university can just provide me with such an environment. Consistently rated amongst the world's best universities, Communication University in China is an institution with a reputation for excellence in teaching and research. I’m basically a hard working and sincere person and my enthusiasm and urge to excel will help me make the best use of every learning opportunity. I hope that you will acknowledge my interests in acquiring the knowledge and doing PhD in Intercultural Communication and related research work under your kind supervision.
