PERSONAL STATEMENT GADZE JEREMIAH FLAVIAN KWAME MASTERS IN CRIMINAL LAW

When growing up, I had the desire of looking into critical crime situations across the world, maybe because my father was into the military and later had his way into the Bureau of National Investigation for some months before leaving everything in order to go into full-time ministry as a pastor. Even though we can say, there is a generic etiology to my strong forensic desires, I feel it’s just the tip of the iceberg. In Secondary school, I often go online to read about some crimes that have taken place at various places in the world, and I sit to read meaning into what actually happened. I sometimes print the crime stories and create a portfolio of them. I later attach the crime findings from expects to the earlier stories and I evaluate them. However, a brutal attack on my family and myself by a gang of notorious criminals on the 11th August, 2013 strengthened my desire to become a crime investigator in the future, in order to help cut down crime. In order to fulfil my life dream, I studied Psychology at the Undergraduate level, at University of Ghana, where I completed with a final GPA of 3.56/4.0. While in tertiary school, I worked as a part-time teacher in Danadsy School for four years. As a teacher, I worked on the disciplinary board of the school, and chaired the investigation of many deviant and crime related behaviors, such as internet fraud; pick pocketing and others that existed among students. After tertiary education, I served my nation as a service personnel at University of Ghana (Psychology Department) as a teaching assistant. Alongside, I registered for six (6) online forensic professional courses on “futurelearn.com”, but have completed three of them with distinction in all, and yet to pay for the certificates (however, the records of my performance can be proved on their website). My strong desire to study the course drived me to start looking into a research work which I titled “Adults Cyber- Crime Offenders: The concept of Immunity, on a cross-cultural basis”. I wish to research into the criminal legal systems of Ghana and write a final dissertation concerning it upon completion of my master’s program. My purpose for the study of the course is to help me realize my dreams and aspirations to become a forensic psychologist in the long run. I want to become a legal officer who has accessed higher education and training, which would help me to bring development to my country, Africa and the world at large. I come from a part of the world which is underdeveloped, and poverty rates are high. Research shows that, poverty has a positive correlation with crime. As a result, many young people engage in criminal behaviors that has to be researched into, in order to see the way forward with how to reduce crime on the African. Moreover, I am a young and focused lad, who seek to affect my world with my knowledge in psychology, information technology and entrepreneurship. I have always lived by the principle of, “if it must be done, then it must be done well”, and I have tried to keep the ethics of efficiency, integrity and responsibility in the course of all my endeavors. I also aspire to learn anything new that might surface in my area of assignment to the highest degree and also to overcome all of the challenges that may come my way. On the African continent especially Ghana, most of our courses are mainly theoretical without the practical aspect been facilitated, but upon looking at the course outline for the criminal law program at Shandong University, I see it wise to study with your institution in order to have a different experience all together. I would want to assure the institution that, there is no cause for alarm in terms of my health, attitude, and any other behavioral criteria. I promise to maintain my progression on excellent academic performance so as to meet the first class criteria of Shandong University, and find my name in the good books of the school. Agreeing with the national anthem of Ghana; I promise on my honor to be faithful and loyal to Shandong University. I pledge myself to the service of the institution, with all my heart and strength, and hope to hold in high esteem the standard that have earlier been laid by the dint of handwork of many others, and I Pledge to uplift and defend the name of Shandong in high esteem forever. It is for these reasons that, I seek to study Masters in Criminal Law in Shandong University. I would be very glad to be given the opportunity to study in your friendly environment. Hope to hear from you soon. Thank You
