Shanghai International Studies University is my first choice because I consider the school’s quest for high standards, as well as its tradition and experience in training diplomats. A look at its teaching and research dispensation is all-inviting to anyone serious. It is located in an international city, Shanghai, with a very cosmopolitan configuration. Shanghai seems to me, the best place to learn about China while living with students from all over the world.
My choice of Shanghai International Studies University came as a result of two main things: the first is my deep interest in understanding China’s diplomatic dynamism, the power behind China’s peaceful, rapid, steady rise and meaningful participation in almost all major global affairs, and how to help my continent strengthen and enlarge cooperation areas with China.
The second motivation why I chose SISU is because it is located in an internationally renowned city and therefore offers an ideal opportunity to experience China, Chinese culture and way of life in an international study environment.
Other reasons include my desire as a young African woman to use the knowledge acquired in my under-graduate studies in Anthropology to better study and understand regional and international affairs, in the hope of contributing in the future to strengthen and promote good peaceful coexistence and diplomatic relations between peoples, cultures, countries and regions. I strongly believe that this course in Shanghai International Studies University is a great opportunity to acquire cross-cultural communication skills and keep alive my dream of playing a role in a multi-cultural world.
