The international system is experiencing deep upheavals that make our common future increasingly uncertain. However, China is a key actor in the international game, able to meet the challenges of globalization, both politically and economically, as well as in terms of education and research. The University of Shanghai is the symbol of China's intellectual fecundity in several respects. I chose to apply for the program offered by the University of Shanghai for its transdisciplinarity approach, which provides students with a consistent and transversal methodology and training, allowing them to respond effectively to the challenges posed by the new millennium. I wish to conduct a doctoral research on international leadership styles regarding international crises of the 21st century. I am firmly convinced that the University of Shanghai and its Center for Global Studies is the only academic institution capable of providing me with the theoretical and methodological tools that will enable me to brillantly carry out my research. And its field of research such as Changes of global values (Sociology), Public Crisis and Global Governance fits with my academic ambitions. Moreover, the cosmopolitan vocation of the University of Shanghai is expressed in particular through the various partnerships signed with international renown universities as Yale University or the Bremen graduate school of social sciences. Moreover, the large number of the international students (2700) studying at this prestigious university clearly demonstrates its belief in human values such as tolerance and respect for diversity; Finally, thanks to its historical heritage, as well as its strategic position of the city in which it is built, the University of Shanghai symbolizes a bridge between tradition and modernity.
