As a young boy growing up, I always had interest in medicine. This ambition grew even stronger when I witnessed my beloved grandfather lose his life due to diabetes. A sickness if he was well looked after by the medical doctors in my country would have probably stayed a little long than he did. There were far too many patients at the hospital but only few qualified medical doctors. My parents and I together with my grandfather waited for about almost 10 hours in the Out Patients Department before getting the time to even see the doctor. I still remember the exact words the doctor said as if it happened just a couple of seconds ago. He said “old man you look very weak and I am sorry for that but I have to keep you here till tomorrow because I have closed and I can’t attend to anymore patients. Little did I know that was my grandfather’s last day on this planet? Just if we had sufficient doctors to run shifts my grandfather might still be alive today. With this at the age of just five I said to myself that I would do everything possible to become a medical doctor so that people in my country wouldn’t suffer the same fate my grandfather did. Also I always had great interest in Science and Mathematics because of the influence both of these subjects have on our regular lives. I know studying medicine is a very expensive path to choose. It requires a lot of money and looking at the time involved it will involve paying huge sums of money especially when you want to pursue this career abroad. This great universities offer quality medical skills to people like me from Africa at a very affordable price in the great nation like China. With your reasonably priced tuition and cost of living I feel it will be a great opportunity for me to come and pursue my medical career at your university. With my good communication skills, great ability to work both as a member and a leader of a team and readily available to offer any help to other people if possible, I think giving me this opportunity will help me in talking a step closer to reaching my aim of becoming a medical doctor.
