I am planning to go abroad to Shanghai, China. Under the Professional Business Chinese Immersion Program, in Fudan University. The program will run over the course of a year. In this time, I hope to expand my international experience and gain more exposure to the Chinese culture, which will ultimately help me grow as an individual. The already mentioned program offers me the invaluable opportunity to emerge into the Asian culture. I have always been fascinated by the Chinese culture in particular; their food, their language and their unique lifestyle, since it is immensely different to what I live on a daily basis. Hopefully, by the end of the program, I will have learned some useful mandarin skills, as well as gained deeper insights of the nation. The program will also expose me to other cultures from different parts of the world, other than China. What is amazing about the program is that I will have the opportunity to learn the language (Mandarin) and practice it on a daily basis on a workplace thanks to the internship opportunities that this program offers. Fudan University has many students from all around the world and I will be able to interact with them, this eventually will help me gain a better understanding of the world and expand my current networking. Fudan is a well-known university and it is recognized on an international basis, so I am sure enrolling here will make a positive impact on my educational and career goals. The lessons offered will help me gain knowledge by providing me real life examples of my major (Managerial Economics concentrated with International Business) on a different perspective, in this case the Asian perspective. The new skills gained in Fudan University will go a long way in impacting my studies. My main educational objective is to gain as many skills and knowledge as possible and I believe enrolling in this university will help towards that end. Enrolling in the program also improves my chances of gaining worthy employment. At the moment, my main career goal is to gain skills that make a marketable candidate in the marketplace and to be considered an ‘asset’ by my employer. In the long run, I would also like to be able to work for a large multinational company, in a position that enables me to travel frequently, so I can explore different parts of the world. Getting in the Professional Business Chinese Immersion Program at Fudan University will provide me with real-life experiences of living in another culture, which will help me to be prepared when traveling to different countries from around the world for business in the future.
