The Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) is the oldest national institution of fine arts in China. With a history of more than 100 years, it is the most prestigious institution of fine arts in China, a renowned fine arts institution in the world, and the only art educational institution directly under the Ministry of Education of China. The history of the school can be traced back to the establishment of the National Beijing Fine Arts School in 1918. In January 1950, the central people's government officially approved the school as the Central Academy of Fine Arts. CAFA has the first-class teaching staff and professional teaching facilities and it aims to cultivate a large number of artists with broad international vision and solid basic teaching internationally and domestically. Now, there are about 5000 full time students in total, including 200 international students from 40 different countries.
