Situated in the old capital city Nanjing, Hohai University (HHU) has a one-hundred-year-long history and enjoys high prestige.As a key comprehensive university under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Education, HHU has upgraded itself with good momentum of development inhydraulic engineering and water resources as its main focus, education of engineering subjects as its first priority, and coordinated development of a wide array of disciplines covering engineering, sciences, economics, management, liberal arts and law, ranking among China’s top universities in its teaching indexes and overall strength. Nowadays, HHU offers 12 post-doctorate programs, 66 Ph.D programs, 198 Master’s programs, 18 Engineering Master’s programs and the MBA program, and 54 undergraduate programs. In 2017, the discipline of Hydraulic Engineering and Environment Engineering were selected into the construction of “Double First-Rate” Discipline Plan.

At present, HHU has 3 campuses: Xikang Road Campus, Jiangning Campus, and Changzhou Campus respectively in Nanjing and Changzhou cities, with the total building area of 1720,625 square metres. With 20 schools under the university’s direct supervision, the number of the students is 51,272 in total, including 19,853 undergraduates, 16,439 master and doctoral students, and738 international students (by June , 2017).

There are 3423 staff members, including 2 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1174 professors and associate professors, and 435 supervisors of PhD. students, as well as 15 academicians employed as part-time professors and tutors for PhD. students.

HHU has one state key research center and one state key laboratory--- “State Key Laboratory of Hydrology-Water Resources and Hydraulic Engineering”; “State Key Engineering Research Center of Efficient Utilization of Water Resources and Engineering Safety”.
