I chose the Wuhan University for the following reasons:

• The University’s motto is "Self-improvement, Perseverance, Truth-seeking & Innovation.” This motto accurately represents the trajectory that I expect my life to take as I intend to improve my intellectual capacity, work diligently and assiduously to ensure that I am successful in the pursuit of my legal career.

• I noted that the University has a high academic prestige, and that the teachers are made up of a cadre of professionals whose academic backgrounds include studying abroad and proficiency in English. It was also noted that the current dean is the renowned international law expert, Professor Xiao Yongping. This makes me confident in the ability of the University to enable me to become an expert in the field of International Law and Chinese Law. My confidence is strengthened by the fact that the Law School has become a national center of legal education and research in China.

• In my research, I have found that the University has an incredible natural surroundings, which features the scenic Luojia Hill in it and the beautiful East Lake by its side. This is very important to me because of my homeland, Jamaica, which is nicknamed ‘Land of Wood and Water’, and my genuine love and appreciation of nature. This fact therefore assures me that I will feel at home.

• The cultural diversity of the University in light of the increased intake of international students had led me to believe that this will be a melting pot of various cultures. This therefore means that there will be opportunity for networking.
