Shanghai International Studies University is well-known in all of China for its global capacities and successful higher education development and that's one of the reasons why I chose it. Its name in the education field has rose ever since foreign languages studies has became a high demand in China. Being recommended by few Chinese teachers in my university back home, I did my research about SISU and I am truly impressed by its leading academics and high quality research for example by being part of top Asian universities that cover up different languages degree programs. Another reason is that I appreciate that this is the only Chinese university that has "intercultural communication" master degree program taught in English. This opens doors to foreign students and specifically to me to be part of the Chinese university/campus life without being threatened by the language barrier. The academic program is really interesting to study with the help of the well-developed faculty and excellent administration and the presence of practical courses makes the program an eye-opening to the world. In addition, Shanghai International Studies University vision is to bring China and the rest of the world together which clarifies its respect of different cultures and its intention of introducing China with a clear image. Let's not forget that Shanghai is an international city which helps students to fit it easily and get to know the Chinese culture on its basis at the same time. Besides all of that, I have worked in China for 5 months and I realized that this country has an affordable cost of living which made me enjoy my stay while traveling, buying food, shopping, etc . As I read about Shanghai International Studies University's accommodations, I was not surprised by the low cost. Last but not least, being called an international university, SISU would not disappoint its students and especially foreign students and it would afford high-quality support services so they can get the best learning experiences as well as it would add extracurricular activities; on one side, foreign students would interact with local students and make networks and contacts during events & on the other side, foreign students would change the routine by practicing sports and enjoying their time. I am certain that Shanghai International Studies University would not disappoint me regarding its successful reputation and high ranking in China.
