I am applying for the long term Chinese program for one year of Chinese study. After this, I would like to study a Chinese medium MBA at Xiamen University. I would like to develop a management and entrepreneurial career in the Food Business in China focusing on import and export business models connecting Chinese and American markets. After my language and MBA study I would like to work for Chinese or International companies in China and eventually start a business that is in line with my values and goals. Chinese language and MBA study at a Xiamen university would give me the linguistic skills, management knowledge, cultural understanding, and personal network needed to get started and excel in industry in China.

I believe that China is the country of the future. Chinese people and Chinese culture have great potential to advance not only China itself but also the world community. I greatly appreciate the social connectedness of life in Chinese society and many of my closest friendships developed while I was living and working in Macau from 2008-2012. I would like to assist with the development of a healthy and profitable business sector, one that is environmentally sustainable and provides world class top quality products to the international economy while developing the capacity of local people and enriching the lives of families and communities. I want to be a part of China’s development of the next 15-20 years. In order to achieve my goals in China, I need to master written and spoken Chinese and learn the techniques, skills, abilities, and culture of business management in China.

Xiamen University has an excellent Chinese medium business program and is well known for academic excellence in many fields. Xiamen’s location in China is one that is healthy and environmentally sustainable for me and my family to live long term. The Chinese Language Program and a Chinese medium MBA program at Xiamen university can give me the boost I need to make my contribution to the advancement of China and my own career.
