The most beneficial practise of everyday life is catering for the future and without foreseeing what liabilities may lay ahead. It is difficult to propose a plan of action in the event of such circumstances. Therefore l find it triaging that Mathematics can be put to practical use so that we can develop a logical consideration of financial prospects and aim to eliminate monetary risk by reducing unfavourable outcome, hence my desire to understand and acquire the skills of an Actuary via a degree in Actuarial Science. I feel like a phenomenal candidate for the scholarship because l desire to make a positive difference in the world around me. I will be equipped with unbeatable and analytical skills, helping organisations to plan for the future and protect themselves from loss. By understanding the nature of risk l will play a role in psychological, physical and financial stability of society. With my help as an Actuary, businesses can grow, retirees can invest with confidence and people can enjoy piece of mind. My desire to learn and grow will allow me to put your scholarship funds into good use. In terms of my degree, the most useful applied module is statistics as l have seen its importance and regular usage in Actuarial Science and because l am fascinated at how convenient it can be to handle and process such figures so that they may be manipulated and provide feasible mathematical model. Since Actuarial Science requires a sound combination of Mathematics and Business Studies background, I decided to take Economics so that l may familiarise myself with the techniques involved. This is to help me power my interpretation when evaluating more extensive documents and develop my problem solving skills. I strongly believe that an Actuary is a person of solid judgement and organisational skills and that it is important to be able to apply these techniques in all areas, both academic and extracurricular to gain versatility. In view of that, l have worked hard to obtain titles that convey authority and reliability such as school prefect. It is essential that l communicate academic and social discipline with the younger students of the school and to be of assistance to the teachers in any way possible as well as performing regular duties alongside my fellow prefects. Inside my school l participated in the UMSA games for the United Methodist Church Schools in volleyball and chess. In the former we won gold as a team and in the latter l won a silver medal when l came second in the nationals. In volleyball too l got the man of the match award. I have chosen to study in China because of its teaching reputation and in the hope that it will build effectively on the style of education l got in Zimbabwe. The contrast of being an upbringing in the third world and life as a student in the first world will hopefully inspire me to make the very best of this opportunity. I trust that in due time l will have developed the necessary skills and experience to have what it takes to tackle the cause but as far as confidence goes, l am passionate about my career choice. However, in spite of being good at a variety of things in school l am a vulnerable student with both parents alive but they are unemployed. This has motivated me to work hard in school up to this level that l have reached and they always inspire me with great words of hard work that l will never forget in my life.
