From my rigorous examination of Chinese Universities willing to not only accept but also nurture foreign students, I have concluded that Beijing Foreign Studies University is the university for not only myself, but nearly any international student.

鹤立鸡群 , just as a marvellous crane stands out in a crowd of chickens, BFSU outshines the admittedly extraordinary competition in regards to Chinese Universities. The People's Republic of China encompasses a vast collection of astonishing universities for one such as myself to bask in. Yet, BFSU has attracted over a thousand international students for a reason! With over a thousand well qualified teachers and professors directly chosen by the Chinese Ministry of Education and a renowned history of being the primary university for international students - how could I not desire the honour of attending BFSU?

I must also bring attention to their invigorating motto, "Learn with an open mind; Serve a great cause." A small but precise guideline that dictates every level of BFSU. Over 400 students who were embraced by BFSU found employment as ambassadors and even hundreds more are prestigious counsellors throughout the People's Republic of China and beyond! A cradle of diplomats as many have noted. Though I hail from a simple rural town in Australia's outback, I wholeheartedly believe that with my dedication to learning with an open mind and BFSU's fantastic guidance, I shall be able to ascend to my true potential and serve a great cause!

To embark from one's homeland to study abroad is quite the journey and difficult task. For some it is a case of 螳臂当车. An innate need and fire to be a mantis that stops the chariot. To not be daunted by the size of a task! While this is an inalienable fact amongst international students, I have been thoroughly convinced that BFSU has not only the facilities but also the personnel to help lighten the burden. Since the university’s founding in 1941, they have strived to ensure that international students are well catered to while also developing their abilities to thrive within the People’s Republic of China. Courses are taught in a wide plethora of languages, from English, Russian, Swahili, and 99 other languages! Resulting in a vast number of cultures, ethics and nationalities harboured and represented in BFSU. While these courses are taught in a more fluent language for many, international students are also provided education in Mandarin alongside their chosen course. Leaving students with not only a valuable degree but also integral knowledge on Mandarin, a language spoken by over a billion people. Truly a fantastic initiative that proves that BFSU is dedicated to ensuring that every single student is prepared for life after university. I will definitely benefit from this as my personal studies of Mandarin can only get me so far. Additionally, with hundreds of foreign teachers at BFSU, many students are afforded the chance to interact with teachers from their own country, who can further assist students in the transition.

From my analysis of courses offered by BFSU, I have determined that Chinese Business Studies is what appeals to me. According to the information provided to me by CUCAS, this course should provide me with an education on such important fields as Chinese Culture &, Business Etiquette, China Economic Reform, and Chinese Business Environment. Areas of research that BFSU prides itself on and that I deeply desire to learn about. Furthermore, this course also contains a number of opportunities to embark on internships and immerse myself in the world of Chinese Businesses, providing me with the ability to secure employment before I have graduated! This is spectacular and a key feature that I have not found from any other university so far. As I have noted in my previous comments, BFSU also has an excellent history of welcoming international students. Considering that this will be my first time leaving my country, I want to be absolutely sure that the university I chose will not only embrace me with open arms and provide me an unforgettable experience not found in Australia, but to also prepare me for living in the People’s Republic of China as I fully intend on finding employment within China after graduating.

All in all, Beijing Foreign Studies University is a shining light in China for international students with a desire to both experience another country and its culture, but to also learn with an open mind and discover their true academic potential. With the staff, facilities and curriculum perfected to welcome students from any corner of the world, it is clear to me that BFSU is where I not only want to be, but need to be.
