For the past 7 years, I have been studying Chinese on a weekly basis. During this time, I have had the opportunity to form a bond with the Chinese language and culture. Before studying International Management at university in the United Kingdom next year, I wish to strengthen that bond. I think that a year of intense studying of the Chinese Language used in Business situations will aid me in my further studies. It will enable me to have a clearer view upon my interests and aspirations. The unique Chinese culture will also help me when dealing with multicultural teams, being able to communicate in a more efficient way. Studying at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in the heart of the Chinese and Asian financial hub is a must for me in this regard. During my stay in Shanghai, I hope to gain benefits from the constant international exposure, as well as maybe attain some further insight on the way finance works in the Chinese culture. The Business Chinese Program at the university is very appealing to me, since it enhances my Chinese level, and broadens the range of situations I am capable of mastering.
