Fudan University is one of the most respected universities in China, and being located in Shanghai, is immersed in the centre of Chinese finance and trade. As a university in the C9 league, it is well respected for its academic staff, students and courses. When considering my decision of location to study there were many variables that I have taken into account, these are good language learning environment, opportunities for future growth, and ability to network.

With long-term intentions to stay in China, networks are everything, and study at Fudan University allows me to make the connections to launch my career in China. One of my friends, studied at Fudan University and explained to me the benefits that he has found from studying at a university of it’s calibre. The approach that Fudan University takes towards the Chinese Language Course appeals to me because I believe the program itself is structured in a way that works with my learning style. The ability to progress through the levels at the rate that I learn at offers me an incentive to apply myself more to the program. 20 hours of structured class time a week allows me to spend adequate amounts of time in the ‘Reading Room’ for self-study. Fudan University is a hub for student activity and this also means that I will have added incentive to immerse myself completely in the culture and university.

The year-long programme at Fudan University offers the ability to gain a strong grasp of the Chinese language, as well as offering me an ecosystem of other students studying things like business, engineering and sciences. I believe that by growing my understanding of the Chinese language while also being surrounded by future business and tech leaders I would be providing myself with the tools to progress further in my career in China. I believe that studying at Fudan University will equip me with the networks, knowledge and skills to move into the workforce in the future.
