Academic Background My name is Etelvina de Jesus da Costa, I am being a doctor for 7 years, from 2005 to 2011 to secure my M.B.B.S. degree. I was doing the medical course at Faculty of Medical Science at University National Timor Lorosa’e. Which is of 6 year’s duration including 1 year of compulsory Spanish course graduated students from Facultad, University National of Timor Lorosa’e.I have completed undergraduate studies in Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBs) from University National Timor Lorosa’e, in 19th November 2011, with 3,98. I was an active somehow indulgent student. Among others during my undergraduate studies, very often involved in many curricular and co-curricular activities, in fact, I was up to the mark and honored in the top 20’s.
Work Background After graduation I started my job as General Practitioner Medical in district at Clinic Health Center Cailaco, Bobonaro Province 2012. I had been there for 1 year and 8 months, not only attended patients in the clinic but also with the team workers we attend the patients in the rural areas through SISCA Integrated Health Services (standing for "Integrated Community Health Services"). The program is a key initiative of the Ministry of Health (MOH) to extend the reach of basic primary health care services to community and household level. In the Clinic Health Center (CHC) Cailaco Village, Bobonaro province. In There also I had seen unwell patient, many of them children, suffering from malnutrition, pneumonia, TB, malaria, dengue. And also cases of adults like hepatitis, malaria, surgical problems like hernias, appendicitis, peritonitis, bowel obstruction and advanced malignancies, such as breast cancer. Unfortunately at CHC just attend the primary health care, and the advance cases need Hospital reefer. I had working there for 1 years 8 months.
In 2013, I was received transference letter from Ministry of Health, to contribute at Referral Hospital Maliana. For 1 years I was in Emergency department, doing on call, dressing patients in the Emergency ward and sometimes I also help the doctor in the Male and Female surgery ward, also assist many operations in General Surgery like, Appendectomy, Laparotomy, Skin Graft, Excision Lymphoma and Wound Repair. In Urology I was participate in Cistolitotomy, Circumcision, Prostatectomy, BPH, Nephrectomy and put catheter. And Orthopedic and traumatology cases like External Fixation, ORIF (Open Reduction Internal Fixation), Close Redaction and wound debridement.
February 2014, I had received another letter from Ministry of Health to support at Public Health Direction specifically in Communicable Disease Contagious (CDC) Department, TB Program as Medical Officer of MDR-TB/TB-HIV/AIDS, and I am still doing my job there. In the morning I attend all patient with TB and HIV/AIDS at National Guido Valadares Hospital in the afternoon I attend MDR-TB patient at MDR-TB Center Klibur Domin Liquica until now. . I had attend the national and international event such as: Medical Training how to Manage MDR-TB Patient in New Delhi India “Orientation on General Health System Ministry of Health”, “Training for TB prevention and Control for the Timor Leste in Korea”, and training MDR-TB/HIV in Thailand, also attended Training How to use Digital X-ray and interpreted the Chest X-ray in Timor –Leste.
My personality In fact, I am a socially active person with friendly, a good communicator indeed who is blessed with many friends. I keep a keen view to the reality of life thus approach people with positive mind and attitude and always prove to be helpful with honest efforts and true dedication. Besides that I always feel very joyous and fortunate to meet and great people belonging to different backgrounds and cultures. As such meetings are always important because they prove to be beneficial in future also it makes things easy to cope whether one works or studies in his own country or outside the country.
