[Fudan University]
One reason I would like to join your school is for its culture and diversity. Growing up in United State with an Argentine mother exposed me to a variety of cultures just from the start. Together my mother and I were able to travel for long periods of time to Argentina. Since then, I have traveled to many different places and learned to love and appreciate their cultures. My goal to become a multicultural, diverse being who appreciates and understands cultures different from my own also led me to choose a multicultural High School. All these experiences have confirmed my love and respect for diversity and cultures. I believe that these experiences shaped who I am today. I would love to have the opportunity to broaden my cultural experiences by studying and living in China, a country that has a deep and rich culture. I hope to be able to use these cultural experiences and education to become the best version of myself possible. I also would have the great privilege of sharing some of these experiences with my mother, who will be working as a teacher in Shanghai for the next few years.
Secondly, I want to study at a progressive language institution. It would be a privilege to be able to study at one of the top universities in China and a world-class university. My goal is to speak and write Chinese and also learn about Chinese culture and beliefs, and I believe that immersion is the best way to learn. I am already bilingual in Spanish and English, and Chinese will be my third language. I love to learn languages because Spanish has helped me to understand other countries’ perspectives, connect with groups of people, and enjoy their music and literature that I may not have had the opportunity to if I did not know the language. I believe that attending Fudan’s Long Term Chinese Program would allow me to learn the language efficiently from one of the top language programs with experienced professors. I am also considering completing my undergraduate program in China, and I am interested in many of the undergraduate programs that Fudan offers.
Fudan’s program also provides a wide variety of extracurricular activities, which I am interested in participating in. I am especially interested in many of the clubs such as Shao Long Kunfu Club, Environmentalism, Human and Nature, and Vegetarian club. Also I am excited for the volunteering opportunities that Fudan offers to students. I have been an athlete for many years, and I value the many different sport facilities on your campus, such as Long Wu International Kugfu Center, which would allow me to be active and keep up my physical health. I believe all these extracurricular activities will help me expand my mind and body outside the classroom while also connecting me with the people and the culture of Fudan University. I am also confident that all the volunteering opportunities that are offered at Fudan will help me connect with China’s rich history and culture. I feel that my love for service and my passion for discovering and engaging with Chinese culture would make me an asset to your students, organization, and the larger community.
