Growing up I was enclosed within the limits of my Mexican-American culture. My quickly acquired passion for both attached languages left me perplexed at the thought of communicating with others with what is recognized as “Tex-Mex” (English and Spanish). As I started wondering what more I could use to communicate with more people and engage in their culture, I eventually introduced myself to cultures around the world and their connections established throughout their unique languages. This realization left me with a curiosity of engagement and participation. All I wanted to do with this information was expand it and travel abroad to learn other languages to enrich myself of the unknown cultures. Furthermore, my evident inquisition to pertain to a different and diverse community led me to late nights spent attempting to learn Asian languages that would further elaborate my curiosity for the exploration. My identity has always been to pertain to communities in which they had limited communications and establish a link between them and other cultures. It was to promote language and focus on their unique traditions and attributions to remove the enclosure they held as a culture. By attending Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University, I will be able to incorporate my multidisciplinary education while completing rigor academics and attaining a polyglot status. I believe Fudan University will provide me with the best international education abroad.
