Dear Sir/Madam, It is with pleasure that I introduce myself to the admission committee and I hereby wish to state my interest and apply for a place to study the International Master in International Communication at the Communication University of China (CUC) starting at the beginning of the academic year 2018/2019. By May 2018, I will have completed my Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication at the Pentecostal Life University. I am currently working on my research titled, The Impact of HIV/AIDS Radio Messages on Population Behavior Change; The Case of Three Radio Stations and Area 49. I am scheduled to defend, successfully of course, my thesis by March end. In 2014, I got an opportunity to travel to the land of my dreams; China for a New Media seminar. I fell in love with China as soon as I alighted from the plane and made it a personal goal to return; for other seminars and most importantly, studying. It therefore did not come as a surprise that in 2016, I returned to Beijing for another 3 weeks training and later in February 2017, for a 10 month fellowship by the China Public Diplomacy Association through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the name China Africa Press Center. Coupled with the fact that I want to get my Master's degree in this country because it would be an inestimable contribution to my future life, career and an immeasurable contribution to my country, the more I got to experience and understand more of China, the more my interest to study in the Asian giant also grew. I have been a journalist for almost 12 years, working for radio for 6 years and print since May 2012. That is why, CUC was an obvious choice for me and the International Master of International Communication program would not have been anything better. The topics in the course are very interesting and offer an excellent knowledge, which nurtures and breeds excellent global communicators and most importantly, think tanks and leaders. China is a powerful country with strong economy and inviolable traditions. In Malawi, studying in China is very prestigious as Chinese universities are one of the best in the world and always highly rated. On the other hand, Malawi universities do not offer this particular program and generally, colleges lack the practical side of studies as there are many theoretical materials and no enough equipment. This program will deepen my knowledge in the field of International Communication, thereby, building a solid foundation for becoming a successful specialist when I am back to Malawi. Getting a Master's degree in China means my acquiring stronger research abilities, greater language proficiency, broader international perspectives; those qualities for becoming an expert of Chinese that are less accessible to graduate students undertaking their programs in my country. Living in China will also accord me an opportunity to further concretize my knowledge of Mandarin, one of the key languages needed now, in Africa and the rest of the world. I have actually made it my personal goal to be a multi-lingual by learning a number of international languages with Chinese as the priority. Mandarin will not only make my stay in China easy, but also launch and open more opportunities for me. I will experience firsthand the most rapidly changing society on earth. With over 5,000 years of history, Chinese civilization is one of the oldest in the world, yet it is evolving fast before our eyes. I will develop a new perspective, and become aware of China and the world and tell its story through the truthful eyes of an African journalist and not the western perspectives that are mostly dishonest and exaggerated. Again, I heard from many students that the interactive relation between the professors and the students in this university is very fruitful and important; not to mention that, this makes studying a pleasure by itself. Now, I am eager to get myself admitted into the International Communication program, with up-to-date developments and all trends and changes in the communication industry will definitely enhance my scope of research and equip me with a comprehensive understanding of the field. My ultimate goal is to become a professor in a leading university who will be an excellent resource to assist students and the learning community. By being offered a scholarship to study at the CUC, I believe that I have just put myself in the right path which gives me that sense of right direction. I believe being offered a place to study at CUC represents a unique opportunity for me to increase my respect for other cultures, to open my eyes wider at the world, and to develop my self-confidence and independence. Integrating the life experience that China has to offer with the quality of education received from leading professors as well as an advanced curriculum provided by CUC could capacitate me to fulfill my dreams. Although the journey ahead might be rough, I believe I possess the necessary skills and perseverance to adapt, thrive and prove myself a worthy candidate if the privilege to pursue this Master's program in your esteem university bestowed upon me. The Scholarship would make me more competitive in career development, better prepared for a global or multicultural work environment, enhance my experiences, knowledge, and judgment, strengthen my skills academically, personally, and socially. Thank you for your time and consideration,
