The willingness to help people find solutions to their problems have always been a part of me whiles growing up, having in mind that whatever little thing I do to help would put a smile on somebody’s face and also promote development. I did my Bachelor Study in Agricultural Engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology which is one of West Africa’s best University of Science and Technology. I studied courses such as Engineering Technology, Agro-meteorology and Climatology, Agricultural Material Handling and Processing, Crop processing, Engineering Economics and Management, Crop losses and Control, Crop Storage and Storage Structures, and just to mention a few. During the study, I gained a vast knowledge on how to use my field of study to solve problems related to Agriculture, food processing and beyond. My undergraduate project which was on the Assessment of a Solar Biomass Hybrid dryer for Aflatoxin control and Insect Disinfestation in maize grains also gave me the opportunity to know how to prevent and control postharvest losses of crops for storage and further processing for human consumption. This inspired me to pursue my graduate career in Food Science and Engineering. Furthermore, to prolong healthy living and life food being taken into the body should be well processed to avoid microbial infection, well packaged and should contain all the required nutrients in the right amount. Therefore, gaining a broad knowledge in Food Science and Engineering would expose me to advanced technologies involved in processing quality food. In view of this, I strongly believe that undertaking the Masters programme in Food Science and Engineering at Jiangsu University would help me gain immense knowledge in Food Science and Engineering to be able to add my quota upon my return to solve the food challenges in Ghana, specifically by engaging in projects and joining hands with both governmental and non-governmental food manufacturing companies. I would also become part of the world of academia, imparting students with the knowledge of Food Science and Engineering. Studying a postgraduate programme at Jiangsu University which provides a conducive environment for teaching and learning would expose me to the appropriate tools in research theories and practical, with the required facilities to explore more in the field of Food Science and Engineering at large. I am confident that my graduate study at Jiangsu University would help me achieve my long term goal as a competent Engineer who plays a major role in solving problems related to Food in Ghana. I would therefore deem it a great honour to gain admission to pursue postgraduate studies at your prestigious University.
