I started my Bachelor of Education Degree last year (2016) at Varsity College Sandton Campus in South Africa. During this time South Africa was currently experiencing massive riots within the tertiary education system in which most ended violently. This caused a disruption with not only public universities, but private as well as the students were attacking these institutions in order to get them to join the Fees Must Fall movement. As a result of this, it became unsafe to further my studies in South Africa, which is why I moved to China. I have been living in Beijing, China for about 7 months now and during this time i have travelled to a few other places within China. I have been trying to learn the language and beautiful culture China has to offer which is why I would love to study here. I have looked around at other universities as well but none has compared to BFSU which has shown so much diversity within its students. I have visited the campus and it is one of the most beautiful campuses I have seen in China. BFSU offers an array of choices with regards to course options and that has enticed me to further my studies through BFSU. As a student who comes from almost nothing, I am the first in my family and community to leave the country so I would like to set an example for those who follow me. BFSU is a respected institution and will definitely help me to fulfill my dream of travelling the world and showing the young people in my community that they can do anything that they put their minds to and it is not limited to South Africa. Also, that they can come to China and see how much more safer it is here as South Africa is not the safest place for young women right now.
