Dear Sir / Madam, My name is Ali Basahi from Yemen , and I would like to to apply to the Mechanical Engineering program at your university Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
For starters, I grew up and was nurtured in Sanaa, Yemen. I studied my 12 years of school in English, I took the Checkpoint exam on 8th grade, and I took the IGCSE in 10th grade. I was one of the four students who took it, knowing that there were 100 students that refused to take the IGCSE due to the high number of subjects on 10th grade ( 12 ). I took five subjects which were: English, Mathematics, Coordinated Science-considered as two, and ICT. Scoring C on each of them in my tight schedule. I also took the TOEFL iBT on January 7th and achieved a 106/120. Moreover, I took the SAT general exam and scored 1110/1600. There are no tutors in Yemen for the SAT, so I basically self studied, and went to take it without having much experience. I scored 87.63% in my final high school year, but achieved a 70 out of 100 in Mathematics because on the day of the exam I was not physically ready, had a stomach ache, so naturally I couldn't concentrate well on that day. That being said, I'm a huge fan of Physics, and it has always been my passion, so for that, I do love Mathematics as well.
Since I love Physics, I chose the mechanical engineering program. In a country that lacks engineers and industrial progress, it is needed for me to help build my own country by prospering in a field that can not only be a stepping stone to build my country, but can grant opportunities from manufacturing to construction. I found your honorable university from the CUCAS website which offered a lot of suggestions, but ultimately, your university appealed me most, for that it is one of the top 3 in the mechanical engineering in China. It also collaborates with world wide universities that would surely help me in my master's studies later on.
As everyone's entitled to fix and repair his/her country. I'm entitled to mine. Therefore, my future plans would be build my home country from scratch using knowledge and education. Moreover, I would pursue a master's degree right after I'm finished with the bachelor's. And I'm confident that the mechanical engineering program would be the perfect choice for that. Especially in your honorable university. In the end, it is my motivation and dreams that drive me forward. I truly hope that you would believe the hopes and dreams of a young but an ambitious ma. Finally, thank you for reviewing my application, “I look forward to the opportunity to study at your university.“
Yours sincerely.
Ali Basahi
