"I will pay attention to the tendency of the epidemic, but my life has not become a mess." This year's Chinese New Year, Conte, an international student at Lanzhou Jiaotong University, cooked his own meals in the dormitory and hurry to write thesis like usual.
Conte told us that his family far away in Ukraine was worried about his safety and video chat with him every day. But he feels that China can overcome the epidemic. "Now the frontline medical staff and grassroots cadres are very hard working. Although I don't know them, I want to cheer them up."
Since the outbreak of pneumonia caused by the new coronavirus, international students in China have faced the epidemic rationally, and they have said that they believe China will find a solution to the problem.
In the Spring Festival this year, a total of nearly 150 international students from Lanzhou Jiaotong University stayed at the school. Dean Zhang Guojin introduced that the university promotes scientific prevention and control knowledge through various channels, reports the latest situation, and takes various measures to ensure the safety of international students.
"After returning to school, international students first go to the school hospital for physical examination. Those with normal physical examination can enter the international student dormitory. After entering, they also need to isolate themselves to reduce the possibility of cross-contact." Zhang Guojin said. The college implements a daily report system for the health status of international students on campus. Staff of the hospital and the local epidemic prevention station monitor the temperature of returning students daily and report any problems in time.
Liu Zhengxi from Egypt is currently a graduate student at the Communication University of China. Recently, he reported his mother's safety via video phone every day. After the outbreak, the school communicated with him as soon as possible. Every day, school teachers inquire about the status of international students one by one in WeChat, and also issue the latest notice in the group, so that they can keep abreast of the progress of the epidemic and preventive measures.
Every day in the place where Liu Zhengxi lives, there is a special person cleaning and disinfecting, "very humane, very warm and scientific."
"I also told my family that China is going to build a hospital in Wuhan to focus on treating confirmed patients within ten days, and they are stunned! Because it takes years to build a hospital in our country," Liu Zhengxi said.
We have learned that international students in China not only support China verbally, but also use practical actions to overcome difficulties with China.
A graduate student of Xiangya Medical College of Central South University in Changsha and Salman from Pakistan signed a voluntary commitment to go to Wuhan at any time. Although he did not "go to the front line" as he wished, he was still very concerned about the epidemic, and he also wore masks and scientific hand washing methods to his friends.
"I'm surprised that China can quickly allocate medical staff and professional equipment to cities with severe epidemics. The world's government, including WHO, has given high praise to the Chinese government, and I believe China can defeat the epidemic." Salman said.
Chen Junwen, a student studying at Lanzhou University, is Indonesian. He did not return to China this Spring Festival. A few days ago, the school hospital issued an announcement to accept social donations. Chen Junwen forwarded the announcement via the Internet. After his Indonesian friend saw the information, he contacted him and donated the masks.
Zheng Hongliang, a teacher at Lanzhou University's School of International Cultural Exchange, introduced that Chen Junwen's friends sent 2,200 masks from Indonesia on January 31, and plans to send more masks. All masks were donated to the Lanzhou University Hospital.
"My friends in Indonesia and I are doing our best to coordinate the delivery of more masks to China. In special times, we will do our part." Chen Junwen said.
